TD SYNNEX UK and Ireland has joined the Microsoft Partner Pledge, further emphasising its commitment to driving long-term, positive impacts for people, society, and the planet.
The Partner Pledge is a rallying cry for businesses that have shared values and has become a focal point for IT businesses that are leading the way and raising the bar on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices.
Simon Bennett, who heads the TD SYNNEX Cloud Solutions specialist business unit in the UK said, “We have a close alignment with the aims and the spirit of the Partner Pledge. Like Microsoft, we are committed to moving as quickly as we can toward net zero, looking after our people and our partners, and doing whatever we can to make the world a better place.
“Those may sound like lofty ambitions, but if we all do enough to make positive changes, our industry can make a real difference. We have signed up because we believe it’s the right thing to do and to demonstrate our commitment to its aims.
The Partner Pledge centres on three themes – growing talent; enhancing diversity and inclusion; and shaping a desirable world. Having conducted a complete assessment of its emissions with Arete Zero Carbon last year, TD SYNNEX UK and Ireland are working on a plan to move towards net zero carbon (NZC). It has subsequently launched a NZC consultancy service that partners can use to measure their own emissions and set out a net zero plan.
Matt Child, Managing Director, Advanced Solutions, UK and Ireland, TD SYNNEX added, “all senior leaders within the Advanced Solutions business have joined both the internal TD SYNNEX mentoring programme, as well as aligning to a BRG, to ensure that not only do they give the benefit of their experience to co-workers and encourage progression, but also drive awareness around our diversity, equity, and inclusion ambitions, and play an active role in making this ‘business as usual’ within the UK&I entities.”
Since January 2023, TD SYNNEX has been using green energy in three of its four UK locations, including its warehouse at Magna Park, Lutterworth, which is the site that consumes the most energy of the four.
TD SYNNEX has also been making strides in terms of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). It has four business resource groups (BRGs) running in the UK and Ireland: Elevate, which is dedicated to the empowerment of women in IT; SPECTRUM, which provides support for LGBTQ+ co-workers; Embrace, which aims to ensure people of all races, religions, and cultures feel welcome, comfortable, and represented within the company; and Limitless, which is focused on disability and neurodiversity.
TD SYNNEX UK and Ireland was a founder member of the Technology Community for Racial Equality (TC4RE) and recently qualified under the Bronze category in the EcoVadis Ratings for environmental, social, and governance (ESG), and now falls into the top 50 per cent of performers.
