Midshire staff have raised a total of £2,844 at its ‘Midshire on Tour’ coast-to-coast charity static bike ride for the British Heart Foundation (BHF).
On Friday 24th August 50 of Midshire’s Stockport and West Bromwich staff raced head-to-head on bikes donated by fitness charity and customer, Life Leisure, in 15-minute intervals to complete the initial 145-mile distance. On the day, so much ground was covered that it was decided to increase the distance to a gruelling 290 miles, taking the ride coast-to-coast, and back again.
Natalie Bunyan, Fundraising Manager at the BHF said, “this was a truly fantastic day to be a part of, the enthusiasm of Midshire’s staff is like nothing I’ve ever seen, particularly given the difficulty of the task.
“They used interactive Sharp BIG PADs with video conferencing software to have a live feed at each office, which created some friendly competition and made the day more fun and interactive.”
Full of enjoyable initiatives, the day saw staff come together for a raffle draw, with prizes ranging from a paid day off, bottles of wine, a Fit Bit donated by PC World, and a 3-month free Life Leisure gym membership. Healthy smoothies were also offered to staff, with all proceeds going directly to the BHF.
Julian Stafford, Managing Director at Midshire said, “I am so proud of everyone at Midshire, they were averaging 4.5km in 15 minutes which is brilliant, but I’d like to give a special mention to Marcin Zelechowski from Stockport and Darren Fullwood from West Bromwich, who averaged 5.8km each interval, and 6.2km respectively. Well done everyone.”
Phil Powell, fellow Managing Director of Midshire added, “what a fantastic day. The Midshire way has always been to get grab the bull by the horns and give it your best shot, and I’d like to echo Julian in saying how proud I am of everyone that took part. They raised a phenomenal amount for such a good cause, well done Midshire.”
