Premier helps with Ukraine support effort

UK-based supplier of paper and materials, Premier, has teamed up with volunteers from the Loughborough Student Union, to deliver donations for the victims of the Ukrainian conflict.

Each year over 4,000 students from Loughborough Student Union (LSU) volunteer to help the wider community with local campaigns, projects, and activities. In March these students got together to run a donation drive for Ukrainian refugee camps based in Poland.

The donation drive was headed up by Tomasz Cendrowski, an international student from Poland. The Lewisham Polish Centre, Tomasz, and the Action Student Volunteers set about collecting donations of key items, such as medical equipment, hygiene products, dry foods, sleeping bags, torches, and batteries. Three weeks later, the students had collected over a ton of donations that were then booked and palleted by Event Engineering and sent on their way to Lewisham Polish Centre; with Premier providing transport of the pallets from Loughborough to the depot, helping to save on additional transport costs.

Tomasz Cendrowski said, “I did it because I did not want to stand by and be inactive when help was urgently needed. I felt that a collection like this would be the best way to mobilise people's goodwill for a great cause as well as providing a chance for people to contribute in a meaningful way. The driver from Premier was experienced, helpful, and clearly very happy to assist with our cause. We’d like to extend our thanks to him personally for helping on the day and to Premier for making the delivery possible and smooth.”

Charity work has always been an important part of Premier’s CSR objectives and to help raise money for the people of Ukraine currently being affected by the ongoing conflict, Premier will be hosting a series of coffee and cake mornings across their various branches on Friday 8th April.

Money can be donated online via with all funds raised going to the British Red Cross; providing psychosocial support and essentials such as food and fuel, to the people of Ukraine.
