The latest revelation to come from the OKI-sponsored whitepaper, by IDC, reveals that 75 percent of European SMBs have no document security system in place such as user ID, leaving them open to threats.
The research has already exposed productivity losses from document processes and predicated a growing mobile workforce. With this in mind, it seems that companies are faced with more digitalised information and, research warns, they need to pay closer attention to data access ad security.
Tetsuya Kuri, VP Marketing, EMEA OKI Europe said, "the growing mobile workforce and demand for 'anytime, anywhere' working is having a profound impact on today's businesses. In response, businesses need to keep employees productive by introducing more effective digitalised workflows, as well as putting the necessary controls in place to protect sensitive customer and business data."
In order to provide secure access to information and boost workplace productivity, OKI are fighting back with their smart, mobile-print-ready MFPs. The whitepaper looks at the role of MFPs, providing customised tools for employees and departments that can be accessed using a secure ID card, secure PIN code or a mobile device. For example, 'pull printing' features can be programmed to only release the document when the user is physically present and a security card or PIN code has been used.
Tetsuya concludes, "as this IDC whitepaper highlights, there is a clear and pressing requirement for smart MFPs that help guard against threats or viruses with secure printing from mobile devices."
