In today’s digital world the role of well-established comms distributors is continuing to flourish. John McKindland, Nimans’ Head of Solutions feels the distribution industry has a bright futureand is declaring the industry stronger than ever.
John said, “with more software-based alternatives to traditional hardware it’s prompted some channel observers to ask if distribution has a bright and prosperous future.
“Far from being in decline we and the sector in general are very much on the front foot, playing an increasingly fundamental role in helping our customers grow their businesses in partnership with many different vendors.
“Nimans is a world away from when our founder Julian started the business almost 40 years ago. We’ve had to change and evolve along the way, but distribution is very much alive and kicking and business has never been better for us.
“Just like the technology we sell we’ve had to adapt particularly around the emergence of the cloud, but distribution remains at the frontline of the channel and is much more than just a cohesive conduit between manufacturers and resellers.
“A number of different vendors look to distribution to provide fulfilment models having moved away from their own UK and European supply models. It’s not about box shifting but providing high levels of pre-sales support and customer facing engagement.
“Distributor’s add tremendous value to the manufacturers’ channels, and Nimans reinforces this in many different ways – from tech support, competitive pricing, next day delivery and field-based expertise.
“Is the future of distribution bright? Absolutely. Distribution is the future for a lot of vendors especially when they want to get a product to market quickly, support it and get it out at the right price, a distributor can do that and has the data and customer base to support it as well.”
