Konftel is helping spread miles of Christmas Day smiles for sick children by becoming the official sponsor of a special festive charity challenge.
Konftel is supporting a real-life Mrs Santa Claus who is running a 35-mile ‘ultra-marathon’ to bring festive cheer to children in hospital and even direct to their homes.
There won’t be any presents for Mum Tracy Halligan to open on Christmas morning, as she begins her six-hour challenge. But she is planning to drop off gifts en route to worthy recipients across her hometown of Warrington.
Tracy has started a justgiving page to raise funds in support of Alder Hey in Liverpool and Warrington hospital too. Her appeal has now been boosted by a donation from Konftel.
The 50-year-old, dubbed ‘Tinsel Tracy’, will be dressed in a specially made Mrs Santa outfit and people can track her activities online via Facebook, starting at around 6 am.
Jeff May, Konftel’s UK Sales Director said, “when we heard about Tracy’s amazing exploits we couldn’t wait to get involved. We already support a worldwide children’s charity and are delighted to now be helping youngsters directly in the UK too.
“Tracy is an inspiration. On Christmas Day many of us will be opening presents, tucking into turkey and drinking mulled wine etc. But Tracy will be running through the streets of my hometown.”
Tracy runs every day, on average 70 miles a week. She’s completed two 100 mile ultra-marathons including one in support of her Mum who has cancer. Both took over 30 hours to finish. She also runs for autism, inspired by her grandchildren.
Tracy said, “Christmas is a magical time but it’s also a tough time for some people too. If I can make people smile, then it will all be worthwhile. This year with everything that’s been going on in the world, it’s the perfect time to do it. I cannot thank Konftel enough for their very generous support.”
Donations are already beginning to flood in with almost £2,000 raised so far.
