JGBM is sad to report that former JGBM Sales Director, Dave Fortune, has passed away. He died peacefully last week with family members by his side.
Dave joined JGBM in 1981 as a salesman after relocating from his Lancashire roots to Brixham in Devon. At that time the company was sole UK distributor for the now defunct Silver Reed typewriter brand. Dave was subsequently promoted to Sales Director and helped the company diversify into multiple brands and build a national dealer base, utilising the advent of buying groups to deliver national growth. He played an instrumental role in building the business towards what it is today and was a much liked and highly respected figure in the OP industry.
Dave was a big Manchester Utd fan, growing up watching legends like George Best and Denis Law (who he called 'The King').
Dave retired in 2005, he was a much liked and highly respected figure in the industry. Our condolences and thoughts are with his family.
