• EveryonePrint offers free use of secure cloud print platform

        • The latest Microsoft alert warning users about the PrintNightmare vulnerability which enables attackers to execute code on their machine remotely has exposed millions of businesses to major security risks and left millions of people unable to print.

For IT leads across the globe, protecting the print infrastructure against security breaches is an ongoing battle. It’s widely acknowledged that zero-day flaws in the Windows Print Spooler service have been around for years, but this weakness has only come to light after security researchers published a PoC exploit on Github, thinking it had already been fixed.

The Print Spooler service runs by default on Windows and Microsoft concedes that the code that contains the vulnerability is in all versions of Windows but it’s not clear if it’s exploitable beyond server versions. Microsoft is working on a patch, but until it’s sorted, IT leads don’t have a lot of options – the advice is to either turn off the Windows Print Spooler service or disable ‘client connections’ - both of which restrict users’ ability to print.

Adam Bishop, Chief Revenue Office at EveryonePrint said, “there are many reasons why organisations are fast-tracking cloud-first strategies and migrating legacy on-premise print infrastructure to an easy-to-use cloud printing solution that eliminates print servers. The PrintNightmare issue compounds the fact that printers are a prime target for hackers and reinforces the message that the only way to improve your security posture and safeguard your endpoints is to get your head in the cloud. So, for organisations that don’t want to think before they print, until Microsoft issues a patch, EveryonePrint is offering free use of its secure cloud print platform.”

EveryonePrint’s Hybrid Cloud Platform (HCP) lessens the burden on IT, removes reliance on print servers, enables central management and has got security covered, from basics like full end to end encryption, right through to zero trust networks. HCP makes streamlining the print infrastructure, eliminating print servers, and incorporating cloud technologies extremely easy. So you can be up and running in under ten minutes.
