Effective Consumable Solutions and its recycling branch; The Greener Side have been nominated for MRW NRA’s Circular Economy Initiative Award, 2021.
The awards recognise an exceptional initiative by an organisation that has embedded the circular economy principles of designing out waste, keeping materials and products in use and regenerating natural systems, having reduced waste with a positive environmental and business impact and be an inspiration for others.
Adrian Lovatt, ECS’s Recycling Director said, “through the combination of our remanufacturing and recycling expertise, we recognise the critical need for a sustainable and circular economy in the UK. As a result, we hope to somewhat relieve the burden placed on organisations to recycle their reprographic consumables.”
As of 2015, it became a legal requirement for anybody who places copier and printer cartridges onto the UK market to be registered as a producer of WEEE waste, which also applies to toner powder and printer/copier consumables. The Greener Side offers producers of waste a solution with the ability to comply lawfully and ethically with the latest legislation which has quite rightly been made to address many issues that currently stain our industry. ECS then ensures that all waste is dealt with in the correct manner, reusing and remanufacturing most of the waste items that are collected.
