D-Link, experts in networking and connectivity technologies, has announced two new additions to its portfolio of multi-Gigabit switches: the 7-Port Multi-Gigabit Unmanaged Switch (DMS-107) (Coming Soon) and 10-Port Multi-Gigabit PoE Smart Managed Switch (DMS-1100-10TP).
The all-new 7-Port Multi-Gigabit Unmanaged Switch (DMS-107) is a solution for upgrading to a multi-Gigabit network. Featuring two 2.5 Gigabit and five Gigabit ports, the switch provides a way to upgrade networks to eliminate bottlenecks and maximise performance and throughput.
The 2.5 Gigabit ports provide a high-bandwidth connection to network-attached storage (NAS) devices and Wi-Fi 6 router/access points, while the Gigabit ports allow fast and reliable connection to multiple gaming computers and workstations. Suitable for demanding business or home network setups, the DMS-107 enables users to access network resources and transfer large multimedia files at high speeds.
The DMS-107’s low power consumption and fanless design provide enhanced reliability, silent operation, and lower electricity costs. The green technology features, IEEE 802.3az Energy-Efficient Ethernet (EEE) and link status detection, reduce the switch’s power consumption when network utilisation is low, reducing energy costs during periods of inactivity.
The new product also offers traffic management features, such as IEEE 802.1p Quality of Service (QoS) and IEEE 802.3x Flow Control. The 802.1p QoS feature allows traffic to be classified into eight priority levels, allowing different types of traffic to be prioritised depending on their importance.
The 10-Port Multi-Gigabit PoE Smart Managed Switch (DMS-1100-10TP) is suitable for businesses looking to upgrade to Wi-Fi 6. Featuring eight 2.5 Gigabit PoE ports and two 10 Gigabit SFP+ uplink ports, the new switch provides the multi-gigabit connectivity needed to maximise throughput of high-performance 802.11ax access points, as well as optimal high-speed uplink connection to the network infrastructure.
The DMS-1100-10TP supports IEEE 802.3bz and is fully backward compatible with 802.3ab Gigabit Ethernet to deliver 2.5 Gigabit speed over standard Cat 5e cabling, connecting to 100 metres distance. The switch can be easily integrated into existing Gigabit Ethernet network infrastructures while simultaneously making networks future-proof for the next generation of 2.5 Gigabit connectivity.
With a total power budget of 240 W, the switch can supply up to 30 W of power per port to connected PoE-enabled devices. The high-power budget and PoE+ support allow the switch to connect and power multiple Wi-Fi 6 access points.
The DMS-1100-10TP supports D-View, a network management system that allows for the central management of critical network characteristics such as availability, reliability, resilience, and security.
