Brother UK unveils four new label range models

Brother UK has released four new models to its TJ series of industrial label printers, introducing higher performance machines to meet the most demanding labelling requirements in warehousing, manufacturing, and logistics.

The new models offer print speeds of up to 14 inches per second (ips), compared to up to 10 ips provided by the four existing models launched in 2020. The new releases also feature increased ribbon capacity for high-volume users of up to 600 meters, up from 450 meters provided by the current range, and internal rewinders to collect printed labels on one spool to be applied later.

Wifi and Bluetooth also add to a range of existing connectivity options, with an advanced touch screen enhancing machine usability and diagnostics.

VDC Research, an authority on the global markets for automatic identification and data capture (AIDC) technologies, recently estimated that industrial label printer hardware vendors generated more than £570 million in revenues in 2020 with the market expected to grow to £715 million by 2025. The growth is attributed to higher print volumes being required across warehousing and supply chains, with a 25.7 per cent increase in global online sales in 2021.

The devices can operate in both direct thermal and thermal transfer mode, which enables businesses to create a wide range of print-out types, from shipping labels to Hazchem warning signs.

By using the correct ribbon and label combination, users can print durable labels that can withstand extremes in moisture, chemical resistance, heat, and UV exposure.

The TJ series range was originally launched in 2020 with the first four of this now complete eight-model range, which is designed for business users that produce more than 1,000 labels a day.

Each device comes with an operating expense purchasing option for reseller partners to use under Brother’s Managed Label Service, which enables customers to buy new products without the need for an upfront payment while combining OPEX spend with complementary hardware and software. The new machines will also be supported by the recent launch of Brother’s ONSITE next-day repairs service, which provides a call-out repairs service to resolve any maintenance issues in a 24-hour period.

Aaron Hopkinson, Product and Solutions Manager for SPS and Labelling at Brother UK said, “We can now arm partners with a full range of competitive industrial label printers and high stock availability to target supply opportunities in the warehouse and logistics sectors.

“The TJ models will enable Auto-ID and IT resellers to help their customers meet the substantial increase in barcoding volumes, which is driving investment in industrial printers in high throughput environments such as busy fulfillment centres and e-commerce operations.

“The devices introduce a number of new features and benefits, from market-leading print speeds to extended capacity, which makes our thermal print range a more competitive and relevant proposition for partners, particularly for customers operating in heavy-duty environments.”
