The whitepaper from analysts IDC and sponsored by OKI Europe, has highlighted the need for a mobile workforce with secure access on the go, including the use of personal devices.
The whitepaper, complied by Jacqui Hendriks, IDC’s Head of European Managed Print Services and Document Solutions research, found the need for smart MFPs to provide digital documents as well as protecting sensitive data from threats and viruses.
It states, “smart MFPs extend the utilisation of the device to a customisable digital transformation tool. They can act as a platform for growth by providing cost and time-efficient workflow solutions aligned with, and in support of companies’ business objectives, such as improving compliance and security while supporting mobility and cost-cutting initiatives.”
The 2013 IDC European usage study on print services market trends found that a third of companies allowed employees to use personal devises and a high number agreed they needed to improve their processes.
Tetsuya Kuri, VP of OKI Europe said, “bring-your-own-device has changed from being a business trend to business reality. The fact that smart MFPs can be configured to streamline workflow and simplify document and management makes them an important asset in the management of bring-your-own-devices and workforce mobility.”
