USB-CTM, the new standard of USB, is already included in devices such as the latest laptops, MacBooks, phones and tablets, and will spread to everything that currently uses the older, larger USB connector. To support this transition, Verbatim has launched a range of multiport hubs and adapters that provide the flexibility and convenience to connect to a wide selection of peripherals.
USB-CTM is a natural evolution with many strong features including fast charging, data transfer speeds of up to double that of USB 3.0, and a smaller connector shape that is reversible making it easier to plug in. To enable people to link these latest USB-CTM devices with peripherals that have other connectors – including HDMI, Ethernet, VGA, SD / microSD Cards and regular USB-A - it is likely that a USB-CTM adapter will be needed.
Dana Mirau, Verbatim Product Manager said, “new sleek laptops and other devices with only USB-CTM connectors are lovely, but people will need to also purchase a multiport hub or adapter to continue using the other essential peripherals that they may own. These can include anything from TVs or monitors and external storage devices like hard drives or USB drives to things like power banks, network cables or headphones – basically, all the devices that still need to be connected or charged from your new laptop or MacBook.”
Verbatim’s most complete USB-CTM multiport hub includes three USB 3.0 ports, a USB-CTM power charging port, an HDMI port to connect to ultra-high-definition 4K HDMI displays, a gigabit Ethernet port to link to wired networks, SD and microSD card reader slots to read or transfer files to and from SD or micro SD memory cards.
The Verbatim adapter provides HDMI connection and supports ultra HD 4K razor-sharp resolutions. Other Verbatim adapters in the range include connections for VGA, Gigabit Ethernet and 4K HDMI with a longer 1.5m cable.
