The SPOT Group recently hosted its annual sailing regatta with suppliers and customers joining the senior management team for a race across the Solent. The competitive event was said to have had some extremely hair-raising moments as the skippers and crew all worked hard to be the first across the finish line.
17 Oceanis 37ft yachts, crewed by mixed teams of suppliers, customers and SPOT management left Hamble for a series of 3 races in perfect sailing conditions. After learning the basics and a few practice runs, what began as a leisurely morning quickly turned into a fast paced race of sailboats. The crews, usually used to business strategy, quickly turned into tactical and ambitious sailors all vying for the finish line.
After an exhilarating afternoon in the sunshine, the teams returned to dry land for drinks on the marina's pontoons, followed by a shore side BBQ at the Royal Southern Yacht Club.
Jeff Whiteway, SPOT Group CEO said, "this was a fantastic event, made even better by the weather this year. We chose to invite a mix of customers and key suppliers this time, which has given our suppliers an invaluable opportunity to network."
The following day, the all-important sailing regatta prize giving was held. In 1st place, a mixed team of customers including A& A Business Supplies, Egan Reid, Euroffice, Wordflow and ZenOffice. Runners up position went to Henkel. The wooden spoon and 'diced-carrot' awards were also presented, but the recipients will remain on tour.
