New pick, pack and despatch lines have been installed at both of Spicers Manchester and Glasgow distribution sites as part of their overall investment in the SPOT group network.
With an increasing volume of third party delivery demand from the Dealer marketplace, the sites have both been equipped with full mechanised packing lines which allow the despatch team to complete parcel packing more efficiently and more securely to ensure safe arrival at their final destination.
Rick Jones, SPOT Group Operations Director said, "at our Manchester and Glasgow sites, the hubs of our consumer delivery operations, the teams are now equipped to deliver the best presentation and packing of goods for safe transit. Good parcel presentation is important to maintain confidence in a Resellers brand and service. Our customers put their trust in us to manage their parcels and deliver the highest quality experience to their end user customers."
The Manchester and Glasgow sites now handle almost all of the parcels destined for direct delivery to end user premises, now the new installations have been completed. Both sites are now up and running with all traffic, previously handled by the other Spicers local sites, bought over in June.
Other investments across the wholesaler's network include the extension of the storage capacity at the bulk distribution sites of Smethwick and Greenwich, which are due for completion by the autumn.
