In line with ongoing expansion plans and recent investments into the SPOT group network, work has been completed to increase storage capacity at Spicers' Greenwich and Birmingham wholesale distribution sites. Infrastructure improvements have been completed, adding a total of 3300 sq metres of pick locations and pallet racking.
This investment into Spicers’ wholesale network hopes to improve logistics and increase capability, to hold and turn around stock with a larger number of storage and pick locations. This in turn looks to further build on Spicers’ commitment to provide industry leading stock availability levels in existing and new categories.
Single and two tier mezzanine floors, shelving and pallet racking systems were added to allow for quick and efficient pick and dispatch of orders, and to better support Spicers’ growing wholesale customer base.
Rick Jones, SPOT Group Operations Director said, “the added footprint to the distribution centres has significantly enhanced the strategic operational ability of Spicers to deliver new product lines and hold more stock in the regions the centres serve. This has been achieved through Teccon Ltd warehouse storage systems. From concept to implementation, Teccon guided us through it all, on time, on budget and with minimal disruption to operations.”
After the successful completion of this expansion, Spicers has approved the redevelopment and is planning further investments at its South East and Midlands distribution sites.
