• Office Friendly raises over £3,000 for Sheffield Mind

        • At a recent drop in session, hosted by Sheffield Mind, Office Friendly delivered a cheque for donations raised at Main Conference 2016. Using justgiving and a silent auction at the event, £3100.10 was raised for Sheffield Mind.

          At the drop in session, held in the new community space of Fargate’s Virgin Money, members of the public and Office Friendly staff heard about the new beneficial projects on offer. Lindsay and Kirsty, of Sheffield Mind, joined Julie Hawley, Marilyn Caster, and Michael Hudson from Office Friendly to learn more about the new initiatives, with the hope of strengthening ties.

          The money raised by Office Friendly will go towards the upkeep of group services like art therapy and walking tours. Group exercises are often calming experiences, offering the chance for new hobbies, and opportunities to meet people socially.

          Lindsay Doyle-Price, Business Development Manager at Sheffield Mind said, “we believe that everyone can do a lot to improve their mental health and they promote self help and empowerment as a route to prevention and recovery.

          “By providing support tailored to each individual's needs we can help people overcome their difficulties, become more emotionally resilient and be more able to cope positively in the future. Particular challenges faced at present are removing the stigma of mental health issues and also encouraging men to talk about their feelings and wellbeing.”
