• Midshire hosts red breakfast for BHF

        • Midshire hosted a ‘Red Breakfast’ club at its Stockport office, on Friday 9th November, raising over £130 for the British Heart Foundation.

Attended by 26 hungry employees, each member of staff paid £5 to have their pick from a wide selection of breakfast options, including: sausage and bacon sandwiches and hash browns donated by Belles Sandwich Bar, fresh fruit from partner company Fruidel, a range of ‘Buddha bowl’ inspired yoghurt and granola, and fresh continental pastries.

The fun initiative also saw each employee entered into a raffle, with the winner being drawn by ‘Santa’, who gave the lucky recipient a voucher for an extra paid day’s holiday to do their Christmas shopping.

Stuart Carruthers, IT Sales Manager at Midshire said, “research has shown that by regularly skipping breakfast, people are actually more likely to be clinically obese, develop diabetes, have high blood pressure, are at a higher risk of having a stroke, and massively reducing their recommended daily intake of vitamins and minerals.

“The work the British Heart Foundation does is vital to both educate people about small changes they can make, and fund research to eventually stop the shockingly high mortality rates.”

“Our partnership with the charity started at the beginning of this year when they delivered CPR training programmes to our staff, and we’ve really grabbed the bull by the horns and done everything we can to raise money since.”

The event also included a heart related quiz delivered by Natalie, with the winner receiving a £50 Amazon voucher.

Natalie Bunyan, Fundraising Manager for the British Heart Foundation added, “Midshire has been so creative with their support this year, they really get everyone involved. The Red Breakfast was another fun way of getting everyone together, I really look forward to where the partnership will go in the new year.”
