Fellowes UK opens new I-port site

Fellowes UK has officially opened a new 145,373 Sq ft I-port site to a number of industry delegates.

Fellowes became a tenant in April this year with production, the logistics team, and finally the office team moving between August and November. The I-Port site covers 337 acres / 6 million sq ft of warehousing and the building sits on the old Rossington Colliery site. It offers 118 car park spaces and 19 HGV parking spaces. It also has over 12000 pallet spaces.

Michel Van Beek, Fellowes European President said at the opening, "with production already moved on 8th August and our logistic team on 28th October, I like to welcome you all at our new facility. I feel strong pride and honour when welcoming you to the new I-port site. A move that is symbolic of our drive and passion to continuously evolve as an organisation and supportive to our ambition to continuously drive excellence for both our customers and employees. The move to I-port is another strong milestone and testimony to this ambition. With a strong capital investment we have built a strong platform for a solid and sustainable future.

"With the move to I-port we are convinced we have chosen a state of the art building at a logistic A+ location offering a great platform to work from whilst offering the minimum possible disruption for the vast majority of Fellowes employees. Yes we are reducing space in both the office and warehouse, but we firmly believe the building will entice more logistic efficiency and a better, more efficient office layout. However, in spite of reduced warehouse space we have increased our pallet capacity to over 12,000 pallets or almost 20% increased capacity.

More than 40 years ago Fellowes UK started at Kirk Sandall in Doncaster and stayed there from 1975 to December 2001. It then moved to West Moor Park where we stayed for almost 15 years. With time evolving Fellowes had to assess whether it wanted to renew the leasing contract for West Moor Park or consider a new location offering all the benefits of a new building.

Michel added, "undertaking such a significant project as moving location has only been possible through the collective efforts of all of your employees. Within 3 years we have achieved successfully switching ERP systems to Oracle and a warehouse/office move which speaks to the very strong teamwork and commitment we are receiving from of all of our team at our Doncaster site. Praise and thanks to all of you."
