• DURABLE warehouse makes light work

        • DURABLE, one of Europe’s largest office products manufacturers is reaping the benefits of a new LED lighting system at its warehouse facility in Wimborne, Dorset. The new lighting, which was designed and installed by Low Energy Designs, has improved the comfort of staff and increased productivity for the company. It has also reduced the company’s annual lighting bill by a staggering 90% and cut CO2 emissions by 86%.

DURABLE’s products grace offices across the world and ensure employees can work in the most comfortable and productive environments. With the company’s warehouse facility in virtually constant operation and products being despatched to customers on a daily basis, there was a significant need for improved lighting scheme to ensure the comfort of employees.

Sean Starkey, Managing Director of DURABLE UK comments, “the welfare of our staff is extremely important to us. They work very hard ensuring our customers receive the right products, on time and we want to provide them with a well-designed and comfortable working environment. Lighting is an essential part of helping the wellbeing of employees, as the research we have conducted for our LUCTRA task lighting system has proven. The warehouse team has definitely seen the difference and we are delighted with the impact the lighting scheme has given.”

“The change of lighting has had a very positive impact both in regards staff welfare and costs,” says Ken Sheldrake, Warehouse Team Leader at DURABLE. “The lighting is a more natural colour compared with the yellow light that was emitted by the previous scheme. It has also demonstrated health benefits for one of our employees that suffers from migraines, he finds the new lighting much better to work in. Also, as the intelligent luminaires turn themselves off or dim automatically, we can save money and energy.”

DURABLE began manufacturing in Germany in 1920. The company now has presence in 80 countries, including its UK headquarters that has experienced significant growth since its inception in 1980. They have since become known as pioneers in developing and producing office supplies. Creative conception combined with continual focus on innovation, quality and design have always played a major role in our corporate philosophy – critical factors that determine the success and future viability of any company in today's competitive marketplace. The company has also recently launched LUCTRA®, a human centric LED lighting system proven to enhance wellbeing and productivity within the workplace.
