• Discount Office Supplies wins Northern Power Racing battle

        • The second Power Racing event, dubbed the dealer equivalent of the ‘War of the Roses’, has been won by the Lancashire team, captained by David McFarlane, taking the title of ‘fastest dealers in the north’ and proud defender of the red rose of Lancashire.

          The dealer racing event took place on 18th May in Colne, Lancashire, followed by a Michelin starred dinner in Ilkley on the Yorkshire side afterwards. Leading the Yorkshire team onto the grid was Mark Exley from WT Supplies. David McFarlane of Blackpool’s Discount Office Supplies, headed the Lancashire team.

          Over 20 dealers attended the event, which was sponsored by Office Power. The event provided dealers with an opportunity to network, discuss changes in the industry, talk about future plans and learn from each other.

          Simon Drakeford, Office Power CEO said, “this was our second Power Racing event and, I’m delighted to say, just as popular and successful as the first held in the south west two months ago. These events are designed to provide an informal and fun platform for local office supplies dealers to meet and network, to have a chance to talk about where the industry’s heading and to share ideas, experiences and advice on how they are achieving prosperity and success within their own businesses.”

          David McFarlane of Blackpool’s Discount Office Supplies added, “it was a fantastic day – filled with fun from start to finish. The racing was brilliant – but then I would say that, given we won. And the meal was first class. It’s rare to get a chance to socialise with your peers in such a relaxed setting – we’re all normally so busy. But it was very worthwhile taking time out to attend and I’m already looking forward to the next one.”
