DCI staff tackle the London to Brighton route for charity

In less than two weeks, four members of staff from Lincolnshire based company, Dynamic Cassette International (DCI), will be gearing up for a 54 mile bike ride from London to Brighton, all in the name of charity, the Laura Centre. Ever a popular annual event; DCI staff have been involved with the London to Brighton bike ride over the years with various charities and also have an understanding of the physical and mental challenges that lay ahead.

The company have decided to support the Laura Centre as it is a charity that has a cause very close to the heart of one staff member in particular, and they are holding a number of events internally to help the foursome achieve their target donation of £1,500.

The Laura Centre specialises in bereavement counselling to parents whose child has died and to children or young people who have been bereaved of a parent or significant person. They provide a professional bereavement service that believes in providing a safe, friendly and inclusive environment, and have a mixture of qualified counsellors and trained visiting counsellors.

Donna Savidge, a member of the bike ride team had a touching explanation behind why the team were supporting the Laura Centre: "Following the death of my beautiful daughter Elizabeth in April 2013, I was given a tremendous amount of support by The Laura Centre. Their unique, complimentary service proved invaluable to me at a time when my world was turned completely upside down.

"Having benefitted from their services, I wanted to do something in return, something that would enable those who found themselves in a similar situation to receive the support that I did. I therefore decided to ride the London to Brighton bike ride. Fortunately, my crazy colleagues offered to join me and raise funds for this wonderful charity. So here we are; myself, Fiona, Ivana & Sean – the Dynamic Peddlers! I'm confident that we'll all make it to the end, spurred on by what a worthy cause The Laura Centre is."
