The Society of Old Friends is hosting an Autumn Guest Dinner on Friday 13th October 2017, at the Victory Services Club, London, with comedy from David Baddiel and music from The Eastcoast Boys.
Following the success a recent Old Friends event, when Al Murray provided the comedy and West End All Stars sang a program from the Last Night of the Proms, the venue is being used again for this event. Old Friends' President David Langdown said that the format was so successful that this year's Autumn Dinner will follow a similar format.
The Guest of Honour will be comedian, presenter and author, David Baddiel. A mainstay of British Comedy for 25 years, in 1992, with Rob Newman, David performed to 12,500 people in the UK’s first ever arena comedy show. In 1994, David and Frank Skinner created the Fantasy Football League TV show and continuing the football theme, the pair, along with The Lightening Seeds, wrote the unofficial England anthem ‘Three Lions’, which has been number one three times and is still heard at games around the world.
David returned to the stage in 2013 with his show FAME: Not The Musical. The show discussed his strange relationship as a celebrity and what it is like to live a life in (and out of) fame. In 2016 David premiered his new show My Family: Not The Sitcom at the Menier Chocolate Factory. A sell out run saw the show transfer to the West End at the Vaudeville Theatre. In 2018, he will be touring again with My Family: Not the Sitcom.
Music will come from The Eastcoast Boys, whose Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons tribute show, Big Girls Don't Cry is in the 10th year of touring.
