Office furniture manufacturer, DAMS, has completed the FIRA (Furniture Industry Research Association) testing process across desking, storage, screen, boardroom table and seating products within its portfolio, including the best-selling Maestro 25 desking range.
Since become a member of the Association in 2015, DAMS has completed a six-month programme of testing that looked at quality and durability across the company’s office furniture range.
Chris Scott Managing Director of DAMS said, “As a UK manufacturer, we have always been able to build traceable and accountable quality management into every stage of the design, production and delivery process and our customers are confident of the highest quality standards from DAMS. Our investment in certified FIRA testing means that this is now endorsed by a credible and independent, UKAS-accredited third party, confirming that our products are built to last and will look as good after years of use as they do on the day of delivery.”
FIRA’s UKAS-accredited testing processes are designed to ensure that each item of furniture remains fit for purpose throughout its service life by stimulating both normal use and ‘foreseeable misuse’ over a prolonged period. The tests include flammability and physical performance tests, safety, strength and durability tests, performance tests on adhesives and boards and dimensional assessments against ergonomic standards.
Key to DAMS’ FIRA testing strategy has been an emphasis on carrying out the tests across the range, including entry level products, such as the best-selling Maestro 25 desking range, which has a 25mm thick desk surface and is available in a wide variety of options at a very competitive price.
Chris adds, “while it’s important that we invest in testing for high end items, such as boardroom tables, ranges like Maestro 25 are the workhorse of the office environment so it’s essential that customers are confident they withstand years of wear and tear.”
