Toshiba consumables beat compatibles in BLI tests
Toshiba TEC has issues a statement to say that third party consumables are not necessarily cheaper than their OEM counterparts, especially if output and quality are part of the equation.
The independent testing institute Buyers Laboratory Inc (BLI) has measured the performance of Toshiba toner cartridges against a third party cartridge brand in a systematic comparative test commissioned by Toshiba. The test was commissioned to gain a realistic impression of the difference between the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) cartridges and those of other companies.
In this test toner yield, reliability and image quality were assessed on four Toshiba multifunctional printing systems, two fitted with Toshiba toner cartridges and two with third party cartridges, producing 90,000 prints each. The Toshiba cartridges delivered 30 per cent more output per unit than their third party counterparts, without image quality issues. The 30 per cent score does not take into account the necessity to reprint due to the inferior image quality produced by non OEM cartridges:
“These test findings confirm that our engineers are doing their job,” says Mr. Tsuyoshi Koyama, Senior Manager European Technical Support & Engineering. “Toshiba consumables are designed and manufactured to achieve top performance from Toshiba multifunctional systems, and this shows that they live up to that promise.”
