• Brother UK’s transformational learning tech is a winner

        • Brother UK has won a Learning Technologies Award after developing its own learning platform and employee toolkit, transforming learning and development in the business.

          It took the silver accolade in the Best UK Learning Platform Implementation category for its Employee Engagement Toolkit (EET), which Brother UK decided to develop in-house after finding that the options available off-the-shelf fell short of expectations.

          EET is a bespoke multi-device learning platform and employee engagement dashboard that gives all colleagues and their managers full access to their training and development portfolio, any time, any place.

          The toolkit has transformed HR with a holistic approach supporting personal development as well as skills and has proved to be a great motivator.

          In 2019, 98 per cent of colleagues went beyond the compulsory level of L&D and the number of learning hours completed was almost quadruple the year before.

          Four in five of Brother’s 174 colleagues achieved or overachieved on their current role development targets and 20 employees received promotions, enabling it to fill 43 per cent of vacancies internally. 

          Phil Jones MBE, Brother UK Managing Director said, “We took the decision to design and develop our own platform, meaning we could completely tailor the content and delivery. 

          “The EET is now a linchpin of our business. What we have created gives us a holistic view of every colleague, so we can really understand their aspirations and help them achieve them.

          “And by ensuring the right people with the right skills are utilising their talents through self-development, we gain a competitive advantage that’s difficult to replicate.”

          The Learning Technologies Awards celebrate excellence in learning technology and e-learning and have been running for ten years. The judges singled out Brother’s ‘data first’ mindset, impressive implementation and its enthusiastic adoption by all areas of the business.

          A key objective was to empower everyone at Brother’s East Manchester headquarters to achieve their own personal ambitions, while also supporting Brother’s strategic objectives.

          It was handed the international accolade after employees were asked to rate Brother on things like its response to the COVID-19 pandemic, talent development, gender equality and social responsibility.
