Blake is continuing in its mission of 'Giving Hope Through Education' through its support of The Jolly Postman Learning Programme.
In partnership with The Postal Museum, this three-year education initiative has been created with the ambition of linking children's book, The Jolly Postman, to the real history of the post.
Since its launch in September 2016, the Jolly Postman Learning Programme has engaged a total of 4, 376 children between the ages of 4 and 7 from 72 different primary schools across 14 boroughs of Greater London.
Feedback from teachers has revealed development in learning skills across the curriculum, with a particular improvement in literacy skills which is most noticeable in the significant increase in confidence of reluctant readers and writers. It has inspired the creative play of the children involved and helped them to recognise the relevance of the post in their own lives.
Blake has supported the programme by donating 3000 free letter writing sets to date, ensuring that each child enrolled has their very own writing equipment to encourage them to embrace their literacy skills in the magic of letter writing.
Tim Browning, Innovation Director at Blake said, "it is very exciting that Blake has been able to be part of this great programme, inspiring creative writing and written communication to children from some of the most disadvantaged situations across the London Boroughs, enabling them to connect with their families and friends and to explore the importance of these essential life skills."
During October, Blake will also be supporting From Me To You in its Big Letter Write, a campaign which encourages everyone to group together - whether it be with friends, neighbours, or work colleagues – and write letters.
The charity will be distributing free Big Letter Write kits including everything from letter prompts, sample letters and stationery, to a handy guide on how to organise you own Big Letter Write event, all of which will be in its own Blake envelope, donated by the company in support of the campaign.
Tim added, "Blake has been pleased to support Big Letter write for a number of years - this incredible charity provides very special moments for persons going through extreme pressure. Having lost both my own parents to cancer I have the privilege of holding some of the letters they received from friends which must have been such an encouragement to them. We are glad we are able to help provide this experience for others too."
